5 Reasons to Switch to AAA Rechargeable Batteries Today

It seems like so many things in your home need batteries, especially AAA ones. You or your child might feel like you’re constantly replacing the ones in your console controller, for example, or you might need them for digital cameras (not everyone uses their phone for pictures). What can you do to keep from regularly running to the local store or ordering them online?

You’re definitely not getting rid of the console or other items, so you need to think of something else. One of the best solutions might be to go with rechargeable batteries. Here are five reasons why you should get AAA rechargeable batteries and strongly consider ditching the other types.

1. They Can Be Cost-Effective

Those trips to the store or online orders can wind up chipping away at your budget. It can be $15 here and there, but it adds up and can be a drain on your bank account. Using rechargeable batteries, whether they are lithium or NiMH batteries – otherwise known as nickel metal hydride, can allow you to save some of that money in the long run.

You’ll be able to just recharge the batteries and use them for a longer period than if you needed to use the other batteries. Most of the time, you can even use a USB c port to do that. Their ability to be recharged multiple times is what makes them cost-effective.

2. They Can Be Better For the Environment

When you toss your alkalines into the garbage, those are going to wind up in a landfill, which just makes for a mess and the toxins can leach into the ground and even the water. It’s not the best thing for the environment, that’s for sure. You can help the planet by making an excellent choice to commit to using rechargeable batteries, whether they are AAA, AA, or any other type.

Notice how we said that you could throw your alkaline batteries into the trash? You can’t do that with rechargeable ones since they pose a health risk — they can catch fire or explode, both of which are very dangerous results. Instead, when they have exhausted the battery capacity for charging, you can take them to designated areas to drop them off so that they can be disposed of safely or recycled.

3. They Can Last Longer

Have you been in the middle of a great game on your console with your friends and then suddenly saw the “your controller needs new batteries” message? You have to hope that no one takes advantage of your sudden inactivity as you hurry to go get new batteries while mumbling “I JUST put new ones in!” That doesn’t have to be the case with using rechargeable batteries.

Since you’ll be recharging them when they run low — usually overnight so that you can take advantage of a fresh battery – though it can be shorter if it’s a fast-charging one. As a result, you’ll be able to use them for longer on your gaming controller or other devices. That makes for more gaming fun and you’re not having to scavenge for new batteries hurridly. You’ll be able to enjoy the long-lasting power.

If you take good care of them, they could significantly outlast their alkaline counterparts. Many batteries can be recharged up to 1,000 times and their shelf life is roughly five years, so you’ll have plenty of time to use them.

4. They Can Perform Well

Do you have a game console? A digital camera? Both of them require constant power, and a battery with a rechargeable design can do that. You’ll be able to spend a lot longer playing games or taking pictures than you would if you used regular batteries since you would run out of juice a lot faster.

Both AA and AAA rechargeable batteries can have a better battery capacity

5. They Can Provide Convenience

Do you have something that is a battery hog? Are you always swapping out batteries every several days? You won’t have to have a huge stash of batteries in a closet. Instead, you can have several rechargeable ones that you can rotate. Charge a pair or two of them when you’re using your devices and then you’ll have new ones to swap in while you put the old ones in the charger.

That way, you’ll have the convenience of not having to wait long to get a new set of batteries. Just wait until each one of the batteries has drained, otherwise, you risk having a shorter battery life each time you charge. Then you’ll be shopping much sooner than you’d like.

Safety

Since you’re just going to have rechargeable batteries, you’re not going to have to worry about corrosion with ones that you have left in storage for a while. One battery that’s left in for too long, could wind up causing damage to the insides of your controller, remote, or digital camera, among other things. That means you’re not going to need other batteries — you’re going to need repairs.

You need to be careful, though. If you have flashlights, don’t leave the batteries, rechargeable or not, in for a long time. Routinely check them to make sure there’s no corrosion. In fact, you can leave a pack of batteries next to it so that you can put fresh ones in there when it’s time, like in the event of a power outage.

So, whether you need AAA batteries or AA batteries, you should seriously think about getting a rechargeable battery. The benefits far outweigh any initial costs, including your getting a charging station for the AAA rechargeable battery. Everything will pay for itself over the course of time, and you and your family will enjoy the benefits. That will make it worth it.
